A Study on Married Elderly Women`s Sex Life

Abstract

|
The study is aimed at identifying what matters are actually occurred in married women’s sex life in old age, and general things of old sex life. The study has been conducted by meeting the married woman elderly over 65 living in downtown, Seoul at random and by collecting data through in-depth interviews and Q&A with 10 seniors who agreed with the poll. The study conducted works to classify and analyze collected data in accordance with qualitative paradigm model of Strauss & Corbin and in result, 22 categories, 42 sub-categories were produced. The study results show that priorities of women’s sex life in old age are focused on “does because is couple" and “is good conveniently not to do", its causal conditions are found “sexual desire", “sexual life attitude", “relationship propensity", and “sex partner", and action /interaction strategies on main phenomena are identified to be concerned with factors such as “spouse sexual ability", “sex satisfaction degree", “improving sex life", “close sexual ethics" and “sexual life discord". Therefore, the seniors undergoing their old age are found to take mental changes, physical changes, sexual desire decrease, and sexual desire loss which are occurred in the old age in a natural phenomenon and they are found to husband’s by sexual volition ’does unavoidably’. The study results show that women’s four patters of sex life in their old age are “satisfaction type", “desire type", “refusal type" and “indifference type". It shouldn’t be understood to be fixed, but to be changeable depending upon time flow and individual circumstances.
